If Romeo Were Five Minutes Late

If Romeo were five minutes late… Juliet would have woken up in time to save him from the intended suicide.  . They might have had children and grown old together. They may have run away, grown tired of one another and separated.  They might have taken other lovers, broken each other’s hearts. The possibilities are endless, like any life. On a trajectory until something intercedes. Free will or chance. Love or death. Any intervention can and will alter the outcome.

If Romeo Were Five Minutes Late is a work in progress. The piece is made up of 50 eight-inch figures, sculpted in various moments of life:walking alone and together, falling in love, growing old. After being cast the figures will be mounted to a wall by their feet. The viewer will observe this piece as if looking at a topographical map of several possible paths (vignettes) of these two people’s lives. In one scene they will have children. In another, Juliet leaves Romeo for another lover...
